The best coves and beaches on the Costa Brava
The Costa Brava is an incredible holiday destination, especially known for its fantastic and picturesque beaches and coves. When planning your vacation, don't forget to check out vacation rentals.
- Cala Culip, Cadaqués
Until 2004, when the Club Med that operated here closed, Cala Culip was practically inaccessible to the general public. Located near Cap de Creus, this cove is ideal for scuba diving. Its coarse sand beach and almost transparent turquoise water, along with impressive local geology, make it a unique place to visit.
- Cala Tavallera
About 2 km from Port de la Selva, Cala Tavallera is accessible only from the GR11 trail. A two-hour walk takes you to a practically deserted cove with a spectacular seabed. In the middle of summer, it is common to see small boats, but in other seasons, it is rare to find anyone else there.
- Sant Pere beach
With more than 6 km in length, Sant Pere Beach offers tranquility among its dunes even in summer. It is one of the few places on the Costa Brava where kitesurfing is allowed and regulated, and is also ideal for sailing and windsurfing. However, the currents can be strong, so use caution and trust the lifeguards present.
- Cala Montjoi and Cala Pelosa
Cala Montjoi is easily accessible, with coarse sand and pebbles. Although it is sometimes busy due to a nearby tourist complex, it offers many services. Cala Pelosa, protected by the Tramuntana, has a pleasant restaurant specializing in paella and fideuá, for which it is recommended to reserve in advance.
- La Rubina, Empuriabrava (Dog Friendly)
La Rubina beach, known as the "wild beach", is preserved from urban development and surrounded by dunes and lagoons. It is the only beach in Castelló d'Empúries where dogs and kitesurfing are allowed, although only at the end close to Santa Margarida.
P.S. We recommend bringing special water shoes due to the rocks, sun protection, and snacks. We hope you enjoy!
